If you ask me, it’s never too early to think about the holidays. I could sing-along to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on a Wednesday in August with as much enthusiasm as if it were December 24. Setting my personal holiday love aside, now is the time of year when brands begin to organize their holiday messaging and influencer marketing plans as consumers plan their holiday shopping.
If you think my holiday excitement has arrived early, Pinterest reported that in April, year-over-year searches for holiday themed items rose 77 percent. SEVENTY-SEVEN PERCENT! Consumers were happy to start planning to deck the halls and prep for holiday shopping eight months early.
“2020 has been a wild year for all of us and influencer marketing has not been immune,” explains Jamie Reardon, CEO and co-founder of Find Your Influence, a seven-year old influencer marketing technology solution. “Consumers are prioritizing safety and convenience above all else and staying at home has led to an increase in time spent online, in front of social media. Many brands have taken notice and have engaged with social media influencers to help deliver messages of hope and inspiration as we adjust to this new normal.”
In August, Find Your Influence surveyed 475 influencers, using FYI’s proprietary survey technology, to learn more about their 2020 holiday shopping plans. These individuals were surveyed online from August 4-6, 2020 reaching nano influencers, micro influencers and macro influencers. The five-question survey reached a sample of FYI’s influencer database of active U.S.-based social media influencers to better understand their budgets, timelines and content plans as they approach the various fourth-quarter holidays.
